The first difference was the quality of Steel Elements International shop drawings. They weren't the rough sketches the customer was accustomed to. Instead, the customer reviewed computer-generated drawings which included three-dimensional, isometric perspectives.

The plans showed a 90,000-square-foot storage facility in Avon, Mass. It stands three stories tall, and needed close to 25 truckloads of light gauge steel building components. Steel Elements International delivered it all: decking, trusses, pour stop, studs, purlins, blocking, header piers, metal roofing, metal siding, and screws and other fasteners.

In addition to fulfilling the whole order, Steel Elements International, LLC did it with little lead time. Deliveries arrived within two weeks of receiving the order.

Steel Elements International saved time for construction crews on-site. For example, Steel Elements International assembled door headers and piers in the shop, reducing ten-fold the number of pieces to handle. Instead of erecting and assembling 1,500 small pieces, site crews had to install only 150. That meant about 112 fewer worker hours outdoors during a Massachusetts winter.
